Hello everyone. I'm new to ant keeping and have just caught my first queens, they are Formica Fusca's.

 

 

I hope to be able to get along with you all, I've been interested in ant keeping for a while but never really had the time, but now I have the time and I'm just getting started

 

I'd like to be able to come to some of you for help, or maybe share news about nuptial flights or exchange queens potentially in the future if some of you here are also in Michigan.

Really? Dang, now I'm really confused, from the website I was looking at said we had em here in Michigan. and I keep getting mixed reviews on what these ants actually are.

Start an ID thread, the members here will hopefully get your queen properly identified pretty fast. Most common Formica sp. in the North East is Formica Subserica. We would need pics to get it properly identified though.
