1. Location (on a map) of collection: Western Michigan, Ottawa County
2. Date of collection: Early this summer. I've had her a while and didn't write anything down.
3. Habitat of collection: Side of my house. I live in a small town.
4. Length (from head to gaster): At most 3mm.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Very tiny

I posted her on the Michigan Facebook group when I first caught her. It was decided that she was some sort of Lasius that was out early. Now that she has some nanitics, I figured I would post new pictures.

If you've enjoyed using my expertise and identifications, please do not create undue ecological risk by releasing your ants. The environment which we keep our pet insects is alien and oftentimes unsanitary, so ensure that wild populations stay safe by giving your ants the best care you can manage for the rest of their lives, as we must do with any other pet.

Exotic ants are for those who think that vibrant diversity is something you need to pay money to see. It is illegal to transport live ants across state lines.

Tapinoma sessile

I knew it was weird that none of the species I kept looking up seemed to match. Wish I could have found more than one now.

I think there is/was one in my bathroom. Every time I would take a shower there would be one or two little workers running around.
