I've been trying to settle on a design for a small all in one formicarium, i really like this dome style. The chambers are all connected from within and incorporates a small foraging area on the "surface". The material is a mixture of gypsum (~80%) portland cement (~15%) and fine sand (~5%) that I've been experimenting with.

 thanks! the containers were sold as "bath bomb molds" on amazon. they're like clear plastic ornaments with two hemispheres. they were quite cheap. And I'm currently out of materials (i used all of them making test designs and what not, these two ended up being the only acceptable ones lol. But when i get some materials i was thinking about doing a diy tutorial thing. They were extremely easy to make and the dome shape sort of lends itself to an easy casting process.

reminds me of the Empire of Ants globe nest

What about (When, not if) you or your cat knock it over? One time I came home to find my cat just sitting and staring at my ants...
