caught six of these girls on tuesday and they're all in test tubes with red film covering only one has any eggs right now so hoping that soon they all start laying

 

 

1. Location (on a map) of collection:  laramie wyoming
2. Date of collection:  8/7/2018
3. Habitat of collection: mud/clay and under some trash
4. Length (from head to gaster): 9-10mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: black head & body with a yellow w/ black/grey segments, yellow & black legs
6. Distinguishing characteristics: none
7. Distinguishing behavior: none
8. Nest description: claustrial chambers were all in mud areas with some tall grass

9. Nuptial flight time and date: possibly 8/6/2018

might be lasius flavus the only queen i saw that was black body with yellow gaster

i was going by what's available on antweb and idk if they're in my state granted i live pretty close to colorado

That is a list of European species, Lasius flavus in north america is now know as Lasius brevicornis. Its always possible that it is L. brevicornis but I think its still a little early for their flights. L. americanus (formally L. alienus) is flying now. Also I believe Lasius brevicornis/flavus is less bulky then one in your picture.

That is a list of European species, Lasius flavus in north america is now know as Lasius brevicornis. Its always possible that it is L. brevicornis but I think its still a little early for their flights. L. americanus (formally L. alienus) is flying now. Also I believe Lasius brevicornis/flavus is less bulky then one in your picture.

well I didn't even see it said France so I'm blind lol. And if it was changed to aliens then wyoming has that for sure but idk if they updated the new name for L. Flavus

Also taking a second closer look at L.Alienus it could definitely be that too but I guess I'll have to wait for workers?
