Right, since I keep most of my colonies in test tubes in single box, I noticed when I need specific colony, or need to feed them all, they can get a bit crazy due to light. So, I decided to find cheap method how to make each tube isolated/light protected, and viola, this is my cheap method.
Stuff you will need:
1. Packing tape ( optional )
2. Preferably dark color of duct tape ( I used black one )
3. Sheet of paper
4. Scissors
5. Test tube
6. 1 minute of your time ( per covering )
Now that you got needed materials together, first take a test tube and measure one length of tube on piece of paper, and cut paper along ( lined paper is good, since you can follow line without having to use a ruler )
After you are done cutting piece of paper, put it on edge of test tube, and make as much circles as you can with paper around test tube ( the more, the better ) and secure it in place from unfolding with piece of packing tape.
After you got that done, measure the length of test tube on duct tape, and start cutting stripes of duct tape, and tape them horizontally along the test tube
After you got that done too, crush the backside with you fingers, and apply additional duct tape to seal it ( I forgot to take picture of sealed back, this is just "crushed" )
And viola! You got your first test tube covering finished. In order to remove it from the tube, just push the back side with your finger and pull the test tube out!
I hope you will find this guide useful, and I hope I explained it in a way that it is understandable!
