Queen 1:

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Carsten , A.B, Canada
2. Date of collection: can’t remember.
3. Habitat of collection: garden. Suburbs. Used to be a prairie.
4. Length (from head to gaster): 9 mm ish
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: black with a band of silver around the gaster. Smooth texture except for the silver band it looks almost fuzzy. The whole ant kind of shimmers like a tropical birds feather (if that makes sense).
6. Distinguishing characteristics: is very chill. Calm and seems to like my setup(either that or it is slowly dying).

2. Date of collection: not sure
3. Habitat of collection: see above
4. Length (from head to gaster): 9mm ish
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: see above
6. Distinguishing characteristics: calmer

Queen 3:

3. Habitat of collection: flower bed suburbs
4. Length (from head to gaster): 9mm ish
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: see above
6. Distinguishing characteristics: slow and has larva

Ok. I find them every where! Found another one today but it got away. Also got a Myrmica Queen and some of her colony.

If you know where the primary colonies for these are, then you can post a picture of a worker showing a side view, head view, and gaster shot for a more accurate ID (or a picture of the queen with this angles).

 

edit: Additional pictures if you want to know the specific species. Care of Formica fusca group species is pretty much the same for all of them.
