Northern Indiana, Suburbs/City 7-23-2018 - Formica subsericea?

Indeed it is. They have been flying here for about 2 weeks now on sunny hot days.

Hello again, I was out walking looking for ants after the first good rain we've had up here in about a month. After some searching I'm guessing it's formica subsericea?

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Northern Indiana
2. Date of collection: 7-23-2018
3. Habitat of collection: Sidewalk of the city near some small woods
4. Length (from head to gaster): Around 11-12mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Black or dull brown?, with shiny-ish banding on gaster
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Banding, large eyes,
