So, what species is found in Iowa/Kansas that loosely resembles the Japanese Camponotus habereri? Red/brown or brown/black with striped abdomen?

Could this be Camponotus americanus?

Camponotus nylanderi??

 

Note: They are roughly half the size of Carpenters, including their queen.

Anyhow these are almost definitely a native species and definitely in the Myrmentoma subgenera, I’d guess Camponotus caryae or C. nearcticus. Other then that not much else can be derived from this video so clearer visuals would be needed. Photos generally offer a higher resolution then videos.
