I got a black light from bioquip recently. I was wondering when to set it up? What time? A sunny day after rain?
Also where, forest, field, etc.?

Any day that is 70 degrees way past dark is good. Anywhere with good ant diversity will yield good results.

I would suggest undisturbed areas, as they tend to be more diverse than those that have more human settlement.

I find that ants start showing up at around 10 and usually leave at 12

Set up at dusk and run until you are tired of sitting there. Forest edges can be especially good. But where you set up depends on what you are after.
