It was found in southern UK during late June. It was found on the ground near lots of holes in the dirt on the edge of a field.

Its not a ant and I have given all the information I have. Except its about 3mm long if that helps.

Yep! That looks like her.
This is Myrmosa atra, not a velvet ant but convergently-evolved Myrmosine wasps in Pompiloidea. that superfamily has several flightless families
