I think you should probably move her in a test tube setup.

This species must absolutely have substrate. And the current nest she is in, it's actually very small. She is staying on top of a water tower, so no moisture problems, either.

So, she is staying in there until the end.

I believe she ate her egg file even though disturbance has been minimal.

It is still too chilly and the ground is completely covered by snow to let her go free.

I moved her to a THA growth chamber as I didn't feel she was doing okay in Mini Hearth.

And she drank for the first time in weeks. I put the chamber in a dark place and will check her in a week.

After Easter, I finally managed to get a bag of sand. And below was my first attempt.

But, for some reasons, she would not stay on ground and was hanging on walls or top cover. So, I made another attempt.

She started to dig after a night. She is still digging but slowly. What this setup will do for her remains to be seen. Hopefully, something positive will come.

It was one of prototype outworld. I don't think he sells it anymore. You could ask him however.

The two top pictures are of a polystyrene box—I don't sell those.

The bottom picture is a 3D-printed foraging area.  I sold them with bare plastic in version 1 of the GroTube.  With version 2, they are now pre-customized and/or themed for the customer, as seen here:

Actually, no, it came with the experimental one. It's the hexagon-shape outworld which is ideal for this since the hole is positioned well above the bottom. If the queen somehow becomes successful in this setup, I can simply add a tube to an outworld.

After the queen dug what it looked like a tiny chamber, she completely blocked off the entrance. This species is semi-claustral and the only reason she blocked off the entrance is probably to hibernate.

Thus, I placed her in my beer fridge. I will let her be there for 6 weeks which seems to be enough to fool most ants.

The queen was found dead when I was checking her up. Therefore, this journal ends here.
