Hi! I'm Mikael from Sweden. New to this forum.

I have a general question about Messor ants.

I'm currently looking into starting a Messor colony in a ytong formicarium setup. As I understand, the Messor ant can be quite good at chewing through materials like ytong

- What messor species would tend to do this the least? For example messor barbarus vs messor orientalis

- Would coating the ytong tunnels in a thin clay layer help prevent this?

Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated!

Sincerely,
