6/15/18

I found 3 of these Pheidole queens in my backyard blacklight trap along with the solenopsis molesta queens on 6/9/18 in San Diego.  They are about the same size as S. molesta so I thought they were S. molesta at first.

I now have them in their own individual test tube set ups.  None of the queens have shed their wings yet, but one queen seems to have a few eggs in the cotton.  I didn't notice and got them soaked when I pushed the cotton down a little further to get water to wick.

Can anyone ID which Pheidole spp it is?  Pheidole Hyatti perhaps?

It is pheidole, but I do not know what species. A question, I'm going to be spending a night in San Diego, does it look like anything is going to fly tonight?

Was a bit on the cold side today, so I doubt it.

All dead 1-2 months after collected.  None were fertile.
