i am needing someone to ship me some Atta texana fungus to Florida.....ummm I have a project I'm working on....

EDIT:

Wowzers ... I am collecting Trachymyrmex septentrionalis  which does occur here in Florida... the project is "Can you boost the Trachymyrmex fungus with Atta grown fungus"   from what i have read in journals the tribe attini which both ants fall in "harvest" the same types of fungus...  there are a lot more people that have Atta so makes sense to get it

Atta isn't native to Florida, how did you get a colony?

Even Disney was denied a permit to display an Atta texana exhibit at one of their parks in Florida.  Florida is very serious about imported or introduced agricultural pests, and is one of few states with a record of using state law to prosecute individuals who have shipped or smuggled roaches and other organisms into the state.

Look up Garret Pany on Facebook and ask him. I'm sure he would send you some.

He also knowingly and illegally ships Attas across state lines. Wonder if anyone from FL bought some!!!

Not sure what is worse. That some members on here believe the BS Trachymyrmex septentrionalis story, or that he got scammed by a kid in Texas who doesn't know much about antkeeping.

Could care less about what you do legally or illegally, and I'm not here to play Internet Policeman.

But the antkeeping community is so small. And I want to be able to keep my antkeeping hobby. Crap like this puts us on the Dept of Agriculture's radar, and our hobbies could end abruptly or be severely limited by what we can or cannot do.

Did you know they recently raided a pet store in Northern CA and quarantined a colony of ants on display? Even though the owner said they were native? The agent said the reason for the raid was because of the rise of ants being shipped across State borders.

Well, great! I don’t want ant keeping illegal just because of OTHER people!

I’ve always been interested in ants that keep fungus or collect seeds, a shame their not native to PA 😞

Some kid was complaining on the discord earlier today. He paid $175 for three Attas from Mr. P. They all died.

Not sure whether to laugh or feel sorry for the kid.

Many people here have varying concerns when it comes to illegally moving reproductive ants. Some are concerned about the environmental impact it could have if they escaped, and others are worried about the future of the hobby and what type of restrictions could be put in place if people continue to illegally ship or move ants to where they shouldn't be. I know it is becoming very common. I meet up with people all the time and sell them colonies in my area. They will start to talk and eventually you get to that point of the conversation where they say something along the lines, "and yeah, I got some of those fire ants coming my way that I had ordered" out of god knows where. Most of them are completely clueless if you tell them it's illegal. Either way, I don't think it's fair to call those who are concerned "punks". Know although most of the people in this thread who have said anything are just assuming you got some of that Atta texana in your possession, and I am not gonna call your story "BS". However I am having a hard time biting. I wouldn't necessarily be shocked if you weren't telling a lie either. Simply prove the accusations wrong and everyone will be happy. Surely one would expect some interrogation in a situation like this and have some proof available to chase the accusers off?

It was the kid's fault for not doing his damn research. There's more than enough information on the internet about how to raise and keep Atta - if he's too dumb to load a few Youtube videos nobody can help him. When ordering a pet you usually get some information on how to keep it BEFORE you get the pet, why should ants be an exception? Do today's kids have that much money to throw away that they don't care or are they just that lazy/stupid?
