Hey all, I was awaken by the kids this morning that "a queen ant is in our house, dad!"   So I guess they're more interested in my new hobby than they let on :)  I'm leaning towards a solenopsis, though I don't really see a stinger (do the queens have em?) Also, sorry...not my best pictures...can try again if need be

 

1. Location (on a map) of collection: Ardmore, AL
2. Date of collection: 06/06/2018
3. Habitat of collection: Pasture/Wooded
4. Length (from head to gaster): 10mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Dark thorax, red & black gaster that has horizontal stripes
6. Distinguishing characteristics: 2 petioles
7. Distinguishing behavior: None noted
8. Nest description: NA

9. Nuptial flight time and date: NA
