I found this dealate walking on a sidewalk at 9am on June 3 in central Florida. It was near a bunch of houses with yards, though there were woods, fields, and lakes all very close by. The neighborhood is overrun with some unknown (to me) species of Pheidole . I have not seen a Pheidole queen here, but their colonies are everywhere and I never see any colonies of other species here. I found a Solenopsis invicta dealate on the same sidewalk. The dealate pictured below is 8mm long. Her head and mesothorax are red, while her gaster is horizontally striped yellow and black. Any ideas on genus/species?
