Hi!

After reading about the New Jersey ant together, I realized that I would like to do a "Connecticut Bug Together" with some local insect keepers. The only two antkeepers in CT that I know of are ctantkeeper & hemightnotbegiant (?), so I would appreciate it if (if this starts) some people from neighboring states visit :D

First, I want to know if something like this would be possible. Would anyone want to do something like this in potentially tick-ridden forest conditions? I often find the most species in the same areas that I find ticks (mostly dog ticks, thankfully).

Second, would getting together to collect insects be legal without a permit within the same state?

I would be more than happy to provide collection equipment (nets, tubes, small containers, setups).

I think as long as it was just kids in your group that's fine... I guess. I know your parents wouldn't appreciate kids meeting up with a random adult and marching out in the woods with him.

LOL!

That makes sense, I guess. I could probably do it with ctantkeeper, I've met up with him a few times.

That's cool considering you used to live in Hawaii. How close do you guys live from eachother?

What about a black windowless van that says "candy inside"?

In modern times? You wouldn't get any response. If it said "Free Wifi," though...

Yeah, I'm totally up for it!!! count me in :). I'm sorry for taking a while to respond. I had no idea this was even here.

When I first heard of the New Jersey ant together, I always wanted to join or do something similar but never got the chance too.

I moved in June, and we first met up september or something (I have a bad sense of time). I then met up with him in december. We live kind of close.

Hey, we haven't set up anything quite yet, but we're aiming for either middle-late spring or early summer. Once we make some more concrete plans, your more than welcome to join us btw! Right now it's just Connectimyrmex and me, but whoever wants to join is more than welcome to contact either one of us and come.
