I caught a little too many Formica francoeuri queens on 5/28/18 - I need to get rid of at least half. All I am asking is for test tubes. 1 queen = 2 test tubes. You will need to bring your own test tube setup ready to go for as many queens as you want, as I have no more test tubes (which is the reason I'm asking for them). I don't take plastic test tubes. Also would prefer standard size test tubes else would need to be 4 smaller tubes for 1 queen.

 

 

103 queens - 30 on reserve = 73 queens I have available. Sooner you come the better as they aren't in proper test tube setups. I have about 20-30 queens left. They have been moved into those jars with wet qtips to keep them hydrated; but pls still bring your own test tube setups, as this setup isn't ideal.

Never had much luck with this species. They've never done well in their second year, and are very easily stressed and eat their eggs even with the slightest movement and light. Key is to not disturb them much and to keep it completely dark during the early founding stages.

 

A little bit of dirt in the test tube may help, but not a lot or the water will saturate the dirt and turn it into mud. Drew says they do fine in just test tubes though, so maybe the ones I've reared were fail moms.

 

You and Scrixx should make a journal and see how well they do since you guys grabbed so much. I know Drew got a lot too.

Spazz was kind enough to give me 21 of these queens. I wonder why you haven't had success nurbs, but it seems drew has. I'll take your advice and leave them alone for a month and are what happens.

Yes, I can already tell how much more tame camponotus is compared to these Formica. It's almost as if they are teleporting.
