In the past I've only had one of these little buggers. But out of the 4 Lasius neoniger queens I found last year 3 had been infected with Tachinid flies. This time I've kept them to observe. The queen that wasn't infected laid eggs a few days after catching her, one of the infected laid a few eggs only to eat them shortly after. They all went into hibernation and about 3-4 weeks after removing them from the fridge the pupae appeared. The queens seem to clean and take care of it as if it were their own brood. I'm hoping to catch them eclosing on video, fingers crossed.
