T.C.'s Camponotus pennsylvanicus Journal

I caught many Camponotus pennsylvanicus queens on May 18th and 19th. I as well have another small colony. I'll just pour them all into one. The older journal on this species had to poor quality of images for my liking.

I was quite surprised to see eggs that yellow/orange from my own C. Pennsylvanicus the first time around. I thought I was doing something wrong lol

These guys have been flying pretty regularly. Here is a neat picture I took during a flight.

i always find that you can catch all of the camponotus queens you like because they are everywhere. You  might sometimes think that for such a large ant queen their would be less of them because it takes a lot of energy to raise them.

For the recently caught queens, all but one have eggs.

I'm aware this journal is well over 4 Years old since an update, but I'm gonna document my new queens here from last season.

They Made Quick progress over the Spring/Summer 2022

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

All of them are now in Hibernation. I promise better photos in 2023.

Welcome them back from a few months in the fridge.  (They went in to hibernation Sept.  15th and came out today.) Hopefully the few workers looking very much dead aren't dead.
