How are these doing?
Plants r cool
Camponotus sansabeanus
It's been a while since the last update. I pulled these colonies out of diapause a week ago and the colonies look good. I think I kept them in too long as they were already walking around while inside the fridge. After taking them out, they were all over the nest within minutes and even the queen starting walking around. The brood was scattered everywhere in piles during diapause and they didn't really organize them until after a few days. about 1/3 of the workers stayed outside the test tube during diapause. Both colonies are over 50 workers and the one with a median worker has a lot of brood, easily 4x the other colony and they already have a medium sized larva that possibly went into diapause with the colony as it didn't develop before winter hit.

How do you feed them in a tiny formicarium, without them running around like crazy? Good job, mine have started to lay eggs!!
Haha it's kind of a pain in the butt, the trick is to let them run around and bait them with sugar water. They get distracted allowing you to do some maintenance and pick up the few wanderers and shove them back in.
