I'm looking for, a number of Camponotus species. It must be a Queen and deceased. Preferably in good shape and either fully preserved or fully dried out. I only need one of each. Right now just looking at U.S. species, but likely interested in others at well. Please contact me. Rather than saying what species I do need, it would be easier to say what I don't need. Here is the current very short list.

Hmm...

I'm not sure if I can send them, but I do happen to have two dead C. nearcticus queens (one red morph and one black morph) and possibly a C. caryae queen.

This is a cool idea! One could have a huge collection of exotic queens, without breaking the law! I might do this!

If you want some C. herculeanus, send me a PM. Although there is a good chance that they are crossed with modocs this far into the boreal forest, as I have found out the hard way with my first queen.

I have several Camponotus castaneus queens who have been deceased for a year or two now. Let me know if interested.

What I mean is I have no idea how to ship them over. They'll probably get crushed xD (they are super brittle right now)

Crystal what does that mean

 

There is a large flight right now. They look like herculeanus at a glance (with their coloring), but when you start taking micro-measurements and see the nearly solid yellow color of newly eclosed workers, they have more in common with modoc than herculeanus. I spent a few hours with Drew and a few other people going over the tiny details in Myrmecology ID guides while I had the queen under a microscope before we all came to the conclusion that the physical features are modoc, although the bit of red just makes them look like herculeanus.

Some I have caught were true herculeanus, but not many....
