1. Location (on a map) of collection: bandung, indonesia

2. Date of collection: 04/2018
3. Habitat of collection: terrace, look like they attracted to lamp
4. Length (from head to gaster): around 4-5 mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: black, orange tip on the end of gaster
6. Distinguishing characteristics: hard to look because small and hidden by wing, maybe 1 spike nodule
7. Distinguishing behavior: they come after heavy rain, a bunch of them, i catch 14. it seem they are not aggressive toward each other so i plant to make 4 queen in 1 test tube
8. Nest description: -

 

 

they became a feast for feral Pheidole ant

Looks to me like Ponera japonica, which is dubious in your area. 

 

However, as it is 4/20/18 for you, it could be the very rare Snoopious doggious.

The snoopious doggious part was just a joke. Could be Ponera selenophora, but I think it's more likely to be Ponera japonica. Maybe try getting some more clear shots, with better lighting?

The snoopious doggious part was just a joke. Could be Ponera selenophora, but I think it's more likely to be Ponera japonica. Maybe try getting some more clear shots, with better lighting?

 

Base on antwiki, in Indonesia we can't found Ponera japonica and there explanation they have similar appearance.

I will try getting better shots later.

 

are they polygyne? at antwiki there is no explanation about it, only explanation they are semi claustral

http://antmaps.org is much better when looking at distribution. AntWiki can be quite off on that sometimes. 

 

According to antmaps, Ponera japonica is suspected to be around the Bandung area, but Ponera selenophora is not reported there. Ponera selenophora is reported in Borneo, which means it could have been broght into Java. Since both species are a possibilty here, we'll need some more clear pictures of their body shape and colors.

The gaster looks more like Ponera japonica, and I think the colors are more like it too. I'm going to say it's Ponera japonica.
