Wished I'd seen this post last night as I've never done a night hunt and want to try it some time. Season is drawing to a close so I doubt I'll have a chance to try this year.

My other journal featuring Formica Bradleyi.

Saw some ants that looked like they might fly, no molesta this time though. They all seem to want to fly at sunset. I'm suprised I haven't seen crematogaster yet except one. I think the night flyers don't care if it rains or not since we're pretty baked right now.
After being so afraid that for sure I missed them this year, Crematogasters are flying! Caught like... 10? In North York area of Toronto.

Saw your post Mercutia and then went for a walk around to see if I could find any here, but no luck.

An hour later I literally went for another walk outside and they were all gone, not a single queen could I find. That's how absolutely stressful this hobby is! It's about having that PERFECT timing.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
I have Americans in the Ontario Anthing thread
