So I recently made this terrarium and was wondering how big of a colony could fit in here? maybe over 500 or more?

You'll want to ensure the plants are healthy and well established, or you will just end up with a mess. Looks pretty wet, so you might try Myrmica. You would not find the other species in a habitat like that unless, perhaps, you were to add some dry nesting medium.

Yeah was considering myrmica cause the colony i have right now has over 5 queens and planning on finding more queens to add to the colony. If i am going to put my myrmica how big can the colony get in there before having to move them out?

I agree, a nest that wet wouldn't suit a lot of species.

To be honest, its only looks really wet because i just watered it, and like the dirt isn't as wet. But I get the idea

It looks great. I would put Myrmica in it. I don't know how many would fit because you never actually said how big the terrarium is, but assuming it is a good sized jar then it would fit the colony for a good while. You can always move them out at some point if you had to.

Right the size is 25 cm in height and 18 cm in diameter

Hahahahaha. Like Ken said, we were all being ridiculously useless....Not to be taken literally,  was just adding into it. I was originally going to give a "some" answer but liked KBants exact figure enough to roll with it.

To answer your question, if 100+ can fit in a test tube setup, than surely 500+ can fit in your terrarium ..
Although it does depend on humidity/species/ability to keep them inside...but it looks great 👍

500 camponotus workers? I think not. While for some species, like pheidole, you can fit maybe a thousand workers in there, larger species, even formica, won't be sustainable in there over 100 workers.

um you do realize how big the jar is right? its a 2 gallon jar
