I said this on the DMV discord, but castaneus will mainly be sending out test flights tonight with possibly a couple queens tossed in in some areas. I'd look tonight but it's unlikely that I'll find anything.

Something tiny is flying right now. No clue what it is. Went out for lunch and saw what I thought was an pimp worker. It was queens. Maybe 3mm. Looks like pimp
Keeps: Camponotus, Tetra

Wants (Please reach out if you have them for sale if you’re in the US): Acromyrmex Sp., Atta Sp., Cephalotes Sp., Myrmecocystus Sp (Prefer Mexicanus), Odontomachus Sp. (Prefer Desertorum), Pachycondyla Sp., Pheidole Sp (Prefer Rhea. The bigger the better. Not the tiny bicarinata), Pogonomyrmex Sp (Prefer Badius)., Pseudomyrmex Sp. (Prefer the cute yellow ones)

If anyone from Maryland wants them, let me know. I am not planning on keep them. I may scoop up more when I leave if they're still around my building but I have 2 right now. Unsure of the species so I will split them up when I get home and tube them.

A lot of activity at my blacklight. I’m really excited to find these two small Crematogaster queens. Must be ashmeadi? Thoughts?
I saw one castaneus drone as well.

Set out both my blacklights tonight. 2 Camponotus pennsylvanicus drones, 1 Camponotus drone (not sure of species), and 1 Lasius interjectus queen. Friend caught 2 C. nearcticus queens.

If that is C. ashmeadi, I probably should've set my blacklights closer to the forest.

What kind/size of blacklights are people using?  Are the blacklights you can find at Home Depot (for example) good enough for luring queens?

I typed in "blacklight bar" into the amazon search and got the one that showed up.

Super disappointed about my ants tonight. 2 nearcticus queens, 1 pennsylvanicus, 1 aphidicola in 4 hours of searching. C. pennsylvanicus and nearcticus colonies had tons of males at their entrances and then it got windy.

I think it's too early for either of those.

Pheidole dentata won't fly until at least mid-late June, probably mid July for y'all up there. They fly in the early mornings during summer from 5:15 to 7 am in my experience.

I had my standards too high for Friday and today. I did not get as many queens as I thought I would at all.
Tonight I got:
1 C. cf. caryae

1 C. nearcticus

2 C. subbarbatus

1 C. castaneus
2 C. pennsylvanicus

Winds were much lighter than Friday. I think all the heat dried up humidity or else queens are just trying to mess with our minds.
