LMAO same thing just happened right now after you posted that. I went to check on the blacklight and after few minutes of inspecting I was about to leave but then she somehow got on my foot too.

My man! In my experience, these queens sort of just end up in the general area of the light, so I keep checking the ground around the sheet. There will usually be tons of males, but a few queens will land if you’re lucky.

BREH I’ve been so busy I haven’t even looked for ants In about 6 months. Try to keep the cast queens just completely in the dark away from everything for a while, aleeguy.
We don’t talk about that

Breh, I got a full time teaching job, two toddlers and a house to take care of. I drive Uber part time to make ends meet. That’s busy.

I'm going to try again tonight .. I found several drones but after too long crawling around the grass I gave up lol.

I'm going to try a path in the woods tonight though cause I'm getting way too many ticks.

I saw a gas station today with near 200 drones .. they were everywhere.. on the windows and the walls, the doors...it was amazing.

Woah! All eight of those are Camponotus, just one is a different species.
Sounds like you live in a really prime habitat area.

Caught a variety..

3 Tetramorium immigrans (squished two by accident)
1 Camponotus pennsylvanicus
2 that I think are Camponotus nerc

And 1 Lasius interjectus

(There were more cast ... but I didn't get them ... no point in being greedy.. I have plenty yesterday)

Nice. I found two Nylanderia queens at my light. I injured one trying to get her in the vial, though.

Oh btw is it pretty early right now for black lighting season(like for the most species that are attracted to black light)? I want to get a yearly pass to PW Forest Park and black light there but I think its a bit early right now for the most species that are attracted to it.

Not too early, Ali, but we’re still not peak yet. Definitely try PW Forest!
