Nice! I was told the Pheidole aren't polygynous, though? I guess it depends on species.

It was still lightly raining when I cut on my blacklight last night, so nothing came but some Temnothorax males. I did find my third and last Tetramorium queen this morning. I'm not collecting any new queens until I can sell some inventory - unless it's Formica!

I don't know what the species is, and I laid in bed regretting putting them in one tube. But when I checked on them this morning then there was no aggression. They do look a bit different from yours though, so I'm thinking they might be P. dentata.

If they are dentata they will be polygynous!

Probably still Ph. bicarinata. They're highly variable. How large are the queens?

About 8mm. I don't really care about the species, I'm not separating the queens at this point.

Sounds like Ph. dentata then. Nice find! My colony went through a small die off, but they're recovering.

I got one, too. I don’t need it, but I couldn’t resist. Plus, it was in a nature center park, so I’m glad I removed her.

How do I know when the species of Camponotus is flying? What details and climate of outside would it be?
We don’t talk about that

Yeah, Camponotus are basically done now. The first day we hit 80 with high humidity and light winds is usually a big day.
C. castaneus fly later when temps stay above 75 degrees well into the night.

I found what I believe is a Colobopsis queen at my spooky blacklight last night. I let her go on the dead, hollow stems of my elderberry bush. Really cool to see, but I don’t want to keep challenging species.
