I found two Nylanderia cf vividula queens and a winged Tetramorium immigrans queen at my blacklight last night. A male C. castaneus showed up, too.
This morning I found a dealate Tetramorium queen.

Shoot! I think it's too cold around my area for anything to fly. Isn't it the same for you? I really want Tetramorium and I'm not willing to miss them this year.

I checked a few nests, and the Tetramorium already have alates. It keeps raining at 6 am tho. hopefully they will fly on sunday.

Ya, I've been watching the development of their alates for a few weeks now. I haven't yet seen anything past the pupal stage, but it's been a while since I checked.

Bam! Big night at my blacklight. Got three Pheidole cf bicarinata queens! My target species for 2020! I also saw at least 20 Temnothorax queens. Tons of castaneus males, too.

What are the most optimal conditions for their flights? It rained hard yesterday, yet when I looked today they apparently haven’t flew yet. I assume it’s because the temps were still in the high 60s when I looked.

Keeping:

Tetramorium immigrans

Formica cf. pallidefulva, cf. incerta, cf. argentea

Formica cf. aserva, cf. subintegra

Pogonomyrmex occidentalis

Pheidole bicarinata

Myrmica sp.

Lasius neoniger, brevicornis

Here we had heavy rain in the afternoon followed by sunny conditions. It got to 82 and was very humid. It was about 75 when I was out at 9:30 finding them. Such chill, slow moving queens!

Yeah, probably too cool then. I’ll look when it’s in the 70s early in the morning.

I've been hoping to find Pheidole ever since I've liked ants with no luck.  :(

Well, I have three and only plan to keep one. I’d be glad to help you guys out. I attribute my luck, as always, to my native plant garden.

I might take you up on that at some point, but I really prefer catching queens myself.
