Help with myrmica rubra

Myrmica rubra is an invasive species in certain parts of Canada. 

 

Myrmica colonies can be pretty young to produce alates. I had one produce them at only 300 workers

when they produce the alates, will the alates fly out to mate or will they mate inside the colony?

also how long do you think it would take a 4 queen colony to reach 300 workers? like a year or 2?
