I bought this today at Bunnings thinking it could be used to trap queen ants. It's meant to attract insects with a UV light and then a fan pushes them into a tray full of water with some detergent to break the surface tension to make them drown. I'm thinking maybe without detergent or without water it could be applied to trapping queen ants instead.

The light is about 8W I think but with the reflectors it still shines pretty brightly, and I remember reading somewhere it was 365nm but I can't find where that was so it might have been a different product.

Let me know what you think  :)

I think for the money that looks super cheaply made, but it is a good idea.

Yeah I agree, but I'm planning on going on a roadtrip soon and don't really have the experience to make something like this DIY. Hopefully it works well enough to justify the price... I'm not too sure if the airflow will be enough to make them unable to fly away though after they've been forced in.

I think they will just walk out because it is depending on the water witch you have taken out.
