Large gold tail ant, Sydney, Australia - 24/3/18

So I was taking a quick look at a local bush track near my house (East Lindfield, Sydney) this morning, and saw this rather large ant, 10-12mm I think, with a golden tail.

Mid torso has a faint gold sheen as well

 

Really pretty....

 

Is this a Polyrhachis ammon?

 

I need a queen now :D

Hmm well these seem to have a dark torso, the one I saw has a faint gold sheen to the mid torso

 

Also, I hope this is not a wingless queen...because i did capture her in a vial, but then let her go, because I thought she was just a worker, but she was pretty big.... :facepalm:

oh your photo torso look black soo i thought it dives

your photo its not queen (no wing scar), i have this guys wingless queen n i still didn't know what sp is it lol

You can sorta see the slight gold sheen in the video

 

From what read Dives have a larger more Camponotus type head, so I'm not sure

if its from australia its maybe ammon or uncaria but here in indonesia (according to antwiki) we don't have them

Damn, I didn't realize there were so many Polyrhachis with a gold tail and yellow sheen on mid torso
