1: collected at Dong Nai, Vietnam;

2: 22/3/2018

3: Melaleuca forest

4: nearly 10mm, see image for measure

5: black head, red-brownish body and dark brown gaster;

6: some have big head, other don't;

7: some seems to be female, carrying eggs around, the others have big head but don't do anything, and i don't seems to see the queen also, none of them is distinquished, they look just like each other, none is bigger than the others, no bigger gasters, ect... don't seem to bite me neither

8: i found them living under a coconut husk

9: no idea about the nuptial flight lel

I'm planning to, they're hard to keep right? more also, what do you mean when you say they don't? this type of ant doesnt need a queen? or my group of ant don't have queen?

i think in general Camponotus are pretty easy to keep they never really require anything special

i think in general Camponotus are pretty easy to keep they never really require anything special

 

Thanks man :DD but idk if this specimen needs a queen? cause i found no queen ant :l it rainedhard, they stacked under a coconut husk, and i found them under the husk, that's all i know

yah all ant colonies need a queen or the equivalent (gamergates) but definitely be on the look out this summer for some cool ants in your area

i'm sure i need to release them back to the husk,but bad news is i don't see any ants there anymore
