So we had a rain storm last night here in Grand Rapids. Its 75 out and sunny. I'm planning on going down to a park by the grand river with a friend to see if we can spot any queen ants walking around. Anyone here been down to riverside?

I’m not in Grand Rapids so I don’t really know what’s around there.

Lucky lol
Or unlucky because I don't think she mated. She is winged and set on escaping.

I might have to start looking soon. Seems like things are starting to pick up.

Yeah the weather would have been perfect for them if not for the wind. Not sure if it is as bad wherever you guys live.

I got six p.imps and a few Lasius parasites yesterday. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the latter... Going out again today.

If you find hosts you could try out the vinegar-dunking method.I got six p.imps and a few Lasius parasites yesterday. Not sure what I'm gonna do with the latter... Going out again today.

Maybe. Need to find hosts though, which is yet another journey. I don't think I'm quite ready for parasitic species yet, but we'll see. Might give it a go.

Absolutely massive C. novaeboracensis flight today. Queens were dropping like flies (literally dropping, and they have wings, get it?).
