Drew does yours still have any brood? I'm thinking about hibernating mine early since they don't have any more brood except for a larva that isn't growing.

I picked up a colony from someone local to me last night. It is one queen and three nanitics. So far she hasn't laid anymore eggs but then again I am currently moving them into a smaller test tube than the huge one they were in and I will be offering them some Hummingbird nectar that has been fortified with Vitamins and Calcium which all
of my colonies seem to love and some Drosophila. I am hoping she will go into a laying spree after getting some fresh food. I have thought about putting them into one of the THA Atom nests that I have but my question is would that be beneficial or should I just leave them be in the closet in the test tube? I am also contemplating wrapping some transparent red vinyl around the tube to further comfort them.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies.
However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:
Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
definitely dead
