Hate to be the bear of bad news, but that is indeed a fire ant male (Solenopsis invicta). Good pictures though, your next ants will be easy to identify if you keep that up!

Hello everyone!  This is my first time posting and actually my first time even looking for queens.  I found this ant under a rock in 35 degree foggy weather.  I hope y'all can help me with this ID, or let me know if it is even a queen (I'm new to this and still learning how to identify these guys)  Thanks in advance!

1. Location of collection: Canyon Lake, Texas (Zip: 78133)

2. Date of collection: 12/27/2017 around 2:00 pm

3. Habitat of collection: Texas Hill Country

4. Length: 8mm

5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: shiny black all over

6. Distinguishing characteristics:  tiny head in comparison to rest of body

7. Distinguishing behavior:  fairly calm (usually stays in one place unless agitated)

8. nest description: no nest seen

9. Nuptial flight time and date: was not seen flying

For some reason it gives me an error when I try to click that album. Can you put the images into the post?

If it's around 8mm, completely black, and has a small head I'd say a Solenopsis invicta male.

The head looks very small to be a female for what I know,so it is possibly a male
