Hi everyone,

 

I caught two other species of ant queens around August, 2017 which I just brought out of hibernation. Below are their description and pictures.

 

Queen #1 - Lasius sp. ?

1. Location of collection: Toronto, Canada
2. Date of collection: Mid September, 2017
3. Habitat of collection: Sidewalk.
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~6mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Orangy light brown

This looks very similar to my (recently identified) Lasius neoniger queen but has a much lighter brown colour.

 

Queen #2 - Lasius claviger?

1. Location of collection: Toronto, Canada
2. Date of collection: Mid september, 2017
3. Habitat of collection: Sidewalk.
4. Length (from head to gaster): ~7mm
5. Color, hue, pattern and texture: Orangy light brown

6. Distinguishing characteristics: large jaws

Here I am showing pictures of an alate one. I caught de-alate queens too, I couldn't get a good picture of it.

The second one is Lasius Claviger for sure, but I’m actually not sure about the first one.

First one might be Lasius flavus

The first one is either Lasius nearcticus or Lasius crypictus and the second one is Lasius claviger
