Hi!
I was so happy to finally have a male and female termite pair, but I lost one of them. I think that the remaining termite is the male.
I kept him for some time alone but he just wandered around aimlessly.

Does anyone have any input on what I should do with him? (And no, I'm not feeding him to anyone)
Thanks!

Some termites are capable of founding through parthenogenesis , though the reproductive obviously would have to be female.

One termite isn't going to do much, except be ant food.

Just feed it and give it water and just keep it until it dies or you can release it I guess.

All my colonies are dead.

 Except:

  Pogonomyrmex barbatus

  Pheidole obscurithorax

  Pheidole morens

Heh. Thanks for all the input, guys!
I will keep it for now. If it lays eggs, no way I'm feeding her. If it doesn't, I'll keep him until he dies and feed his corpse to an ant (sounds heartless). Thanks again!

I guess that many people do eat them, but they eat the larger and tastier ones. That scrawny little drywood termite probably tasted like sawdust.

:/ uhh what

In case you want to know, I actually ate a asian subterranean termite reproductive before because apparently they taste good. It tastes like what you would expect it to taste like: crunchy but pretty flavorless.
