I am posting this for someone else.

He found this ant wandering around next to a bee hive in September of 2017, and he only took this one picture. I thought I was familiar with all the Camponotus species in Oregon, but the stripe down the gaster has me completely baffled. He says the gaster was a metallic golden colour, like you'd see on C. pennsylvanicus, but the stripe down the middle wasn't. Any help would be appreciated because it is driving me absolutely crazy.

It was found near Eugene, Oregon. He didn't keep the ant, so the picture is all I have to go off of. I would generally include a lot more information on one of these kinds of posts, but he caught it last year so the memories are a little fuzzy.

Edit: It was away from urban or majorly disturbed areas, near a small country road going through a 600 acre private property.

Right now all I have to go off of is coastal Oregon, I'll try to get an exact location tomorrow when he wakes up. He was in Oregon when he found it.

Edit: He found it around Eugene, Oregon.
