1. Location of collection: My pool, in a small large neighborhood that's in Katy, Texas
2. Date of collection: 2/23/18 at 7:13 PM
3. Habitat of collection: Neighborhood, basically just small grassy plots of land and lots of rocks.
4. Length: 3mm antennae included
5. Coloration, hue, pattern and texture: Head is gray, legs are light orange, thorax is dark orange, gaster is black. Gaster is hairy.
6. Distinguishing characteristics: Seems to have one petiole node, pretty smooth no bumps.
7. Anything else distinctive: I've never seen anything that looks like this, so they could be a shy ant species, the queen is very fast and constantly grooms herself very quickly.
8. Nest description: No nest was found, but I'd assume they live under rocks. No where else to live around here.
9. Nuptial flight time and date It was caught at 7:13 PM, and I did not see any other alates. It could be an early flier that was attracted by the pool light.
10. Pictures:
