Camponotus and Formica are flying like crazy over here! Prenolepis look like they are done for the year though. I am expecting some Lasius interjectus flights here in the next couple of weeks.

Going to try for Pogonomyrmex this weekend. Really hope the conditions don't disappoint.

Pretty sure the Camponotus I now have is vicinus. Don’t have time to confirm though.

The coming Tuesday looks more promising for flights than anything else so far.

Funny thing whenever I go anting I find termites, this time I FOUND TERMITES. Anyway there are 100's of termites flying in San Rafael.

Edit: Btw they were subterranean termites

I feel you. One time I was digging up founding chambers and found a subterranean termite colony.

Pogonomyrmex might be more likely to fly tomorrow and Friday though, since there was a bit of rain on Monday, which might cause them to be more reactive to heat on these days.

Are you going to catch a pair? You can culture them and feed them away like mealworms and dubias.
