(I think) the flight start in the morning and more queens fly in the noon. A gradual process as so to say.

Males start flying earlier, whenever they can beat their wings. Queens however cannot fly if it is below a certain temperature as their wings muscles won't work. This temperature is typically achieved around noon.

Alright, thanks. I’ll have to hope they fly on the weekends or else I’ll have school and won’t be able to catch any.

It's not that much of a secret . A few other people know, and if anyone wants to know they can just ask haha.

It might change. There are only predictions. Probably correct but there is a slight possibility that it might change. I never heard of Prenolepis that fly in April.

I wouldn't doubt seeing Queens fly as late as April, I remember it happening before during the El Nino 2009-2010 time period.

Tomorrow will be in the low 60’s in the evening. I don’t know if that’s enough to trigger flights though.
#454 Offline - Posted February 27 2019 - 6:05 PM
Doubt that, it needs to be at least high 60’s like 69, or more, typically 70-80 degrees.

Well, good news. Check the forecast for next weekend and you'll see that temps are rising to the mid-60's

Yeah, still not enough to trigger flights though. Depends.

A friend of mine in Redwood City found Prenolepis flying in the mid-'60s in February. Yeah, it depends. But it looks like temps will keep rising which is very good.

All next week the weather is supposed be in the high 60s and it even reaches the 70s but I doubt the rain will stop.
