Ant-keepers aren't the only people who dig stuff up. Small children might go around digging up ant nests to see what they can do. Hopefully, the larger colonies are able to recover from this. Some other places are also campgrounds, and dug up spots may just be from covering up campfires or waste.

I apologize if I made anyone think they are doing something wrong, as it was the accuser who was responsible for the destruction.

Are you guys excited for P. imparis flights? Can’t wait until warm temps in March; I intend to catch C. quercicola and some other species.

The temperature still isn't looking good for the next few weeks though. According to wunderground, it's not going to rise above 65F at least until February is over. This is the weather from this year compared to 2018

Once it does rise, Prenolepis, Camponotus, Testaceus, and more might fly together. That would be amazing.

I think March is best bet and if it gets to then we should expect tons of species flying together! Find areas with biodiversity for best chances at variety of queens!

If we could, that would be awesome!

Also, I'm not sure if this applies to NorCal as well, but the rain patterns are supposed to last until June, according to another member here.

Camponotus are everywhere just good fricken luck trying to get at them cause the species here nest in solid rock and hard clay. Cause we kind of live in a desert.

I still got my unmated Camponotus queens and males from several months ago too bad I can't forcefully mate them like Prenolepis Imparis. Prenolepis Imparis males are also relentless to mate so if you find a queen that hasn't mated yet just get male and five minutes later your done.

It's supposed to go into the high sixties the Thursday after the next. Around Santa Clara County, it should have a high of around 67-69F. I'm not sure if this is enough to spark a good flight, but they've been waiting for a while now so chances are pretty good!

Here's the list on AntWeb of all Bay Area ant species for those who didn't know about it:

https://www.antweb.o...ect=bayareaants

I'll put it on the front page too

Prenolepis flights are being delayed, to to heavy rain. But I’m sure it will get warm in March. There’s been a good rain around CA. Then we go crazy catching ants.

The 3 step rule:

Wake up
Get tubes
Catch ants

Follow up:
Sell some colonies and make some moola

At what time do Prenolepis imparis start to mate?
