Hey! So, I've been keeping this species for about a year now and has been very successful! They're at about their 100 workers limit. Every day I feed them sugar water, normally they'll accept this but the sugar has to be in low amounts. They won't accept it if there's too much sugar. For feeding them, I put in small crushed mealworms or crushed crickets and they get at the juices. Hope I helped!

That's really nice! I would absolutely love to see pictures as they are very rarely documented. Mine only have eggs right now.

Have you tied adjusting the temp??

Her tube is connected to a heating cable.

 

Should I try adding soil to the test tube to make it feel more natural?

I know mine refused to lay eggs or would eat their eggs if I failed to provide sugar water for them. I'm not sure if that helps at all with your situation though.

So, um... it would appear that I have lost this queen. Not like, she died or escaped, but I managed to lose the tube that had her in it. I was updating my journals and found this one and it occurred to me, "it's been a while since I remember seeing her" and now I just checked and can't find her in any of my ant drawers. So, until I find another or I find her somehow miraculously still alive, this journal is discontinued.

I'm mad at past me for losing that tube. That would have been a fun species...
