Small formicarium

so I'm looking into making a small formicarium for my ants and i have been looking all over for sandy loam and can't seem to find it any where and i need it as the main medium for the enclosure?


Colonies:

 

Founding:

Camponotus cf. Modoc

Camponotus cf. Herculeanus

 

Dream Ants:

 

Stenamma Diecki

Solenopsis Molesta

Manica Invidia

Camponotus Herculeanus

Lasius Latipes

Dorymyrmex Pyramicus

Tapinoma Sessile

Yeah, just go to your nearest chain pet store. (Assuming you are near one). They'll probably be selling reptile sand.

I found this on Amazon, and matches the sand color (reasonably) to some of the glacial till sand we see here in the north east - https://www.amazon.c...e?ie=UTF8&psc=1

 

It's a bit whiter, but picked up a yellow sand to darken it a bit.

Thanks guys for replying :)  and i think after looking all day i found what i was looking for but will definitely check the pets stores around me, unfortunately i live about an hour away from any decent sized city but have a small local pet store so maybe they might have some

The stuff I seen at pet smart was like a brown/orange color, and had clay and other stuff in it. I liked it becuase it looked more naturalistic.
