I have never kept termites before so I’m not sure which are the pairs.

Well they'll chase each other as I'm assuming you've seen. Just wait till you see two different pairs and then separate them.

Also give them wood in their setup. A bare test tube won’t work for termites.

Ok, will cardboard work or bark

Also I split them up. They started following each over instantly so that was easy.

I'm doing a giant test tube setup but with toilet paper. They have eggs as of now so it's kinda working. All I did was stuff a sheet of toilet paper then add a little water and repeat that step a bunch of times. The issue with this method is it could get moldy but that's kinda true of any setup. If you go this route make sure not to add too much water and there isn't a water reservoir like in a normal test tube setup.

I think so. I used toilet paper instead of cotton though.

Ah ok. I can pull some cardboard off a box and get some wood shaving from a random wood chunck I have lying around.

Cardboard can have some additives that harm termites. If you use it, try food grade like from an egg carton. Sawdust is better, or really old and soft wood you can crumble up to fit. Nothing really works for termites long term, though, so don’t get your hopes up.
