Hey guys, I'm taking a trip to my local beach soon and I'll have a little bit of time to hunt for queen ants. I was wondering if you guys had any tips because I've never had any luck with beaches before.

Having absolutely zero experience for anting on a beach....check near trash cans or the picnic area?

Don't look straight on the beach, look at the edge where vegetation meets the open sand. I found a Myrmica rubra queen this way last May, and foraging ants would only forage on the edge of the dune/vegetation.

One time I had a bonfire at a beach, and queens everywhere started to fly by the bonfire. Some actually flew in it.

Flew into the fire? Gosh. What a way to go...One time I had a bonfire at a beach, and queens everywhere started to fly by the bonfire. Some actually flew in it.

Check under rotting dead wood...I found a ton of tetramorium queens that way
Proverbs 6:6-8 New International Version (NIV)
6 Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
7 It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
8 yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
