I'm from Beaufort SC and my mom
have these ant crawling in her bed
She don't know why we trying to find
Out what type of ants they are
we washed all beding but the keep returning
Now they in kitchen

Looks like some kind of carpenter ant.

lucky for you, antweb.org has a list of known ant species in south Carolina. I would say start comparing there and then do your research on the species as to their nesting habits on antwiki.org. unfortunately I am unfamiliar with south Carolina ants :/

Like Greg said, I think it looks like a Carpenter Ant too. Maybe they made a nest inside the bed or mattress. :sarcastic:

Probably Florida carpenter ants, Camponotus floridanus. NOt sure what they're after in the bed, but it's common for them to enter houses, especially in the cooler months of the year.
