I figured i should have probably done this two months ago but i am making a journal for my Pseudomyrmex pallidus colony. I bought This colony with about 30 workers and around 16 queens then 4 of the queens died and one escaped. currently the colony has about 45 workers. and is thriving. they are housed in a test tube connected to an AntsCanada OmniNest outworld and a test tube portal. They live in q-tips inside the test tubes. this species is notoriously difficult to move.

Interesting. My old P. gracilis only ate undiluted honey, live termites, dead fruit flies, ant queens, and the occasional baby surinam roach (those were easy to find, all of the things mentioned could be found at my school [except for the honey])

Cool, that's sort of similar to my old setups. Mine were a bit more straightened out. They also included clear straws and tissue paper.

Those queens are easier to spot than Pseudomyrmex gracilis queens...  ;)

Those queens are easier to spot than Pseudomyrmex gracilis queens...  ;)

I agree. The pallidus queens' wing scars are SO much more obvious.

moved them into a new setup but i don't have any pictures also the queens laid a few new eggs

I was worried that the ants were to stressed to eat but in their new outworld with sand they are foraging again and the queens were laying more eggs

Did you consider adding a straw or a small wooden stick to the nest entrance so the ants can move easier between the nest and outworld?

Update!


Hi there! I went on a 6 month or so hiatus, in part due, and in part cause of the death of my colonies. 

However, I went back to the Sierras, and restarted my collection, which is now as follows:

Aphaenogaster uinta, Camponotus vicinus, Camponotus modoc, Formica cf. aserva, Formica cf. micropthalma, Formica cf. manni, Formica subpolita, Formica cf. subaenescens, Lasius americanus, Manica invidia, Pogonomyrmex salinus, Pogonomyrmex sp. 1, Solenopsis validiuscula, & Solenopsis sp. 3 (new Sierra variant).
