how to tell formica worker from camponotus

idk if I'm stupid or if its just me but i can't tell the difference besides the queen

i have a colony of formica subsericea that i thought was camp pennsylvanicus

viewing them from the side helps.  

the pronotum and propodium of formica make the thorax look like it has twho humps, in camponotus, the thorax just looks like one hump.

The head differs from the side as well, in Camponotus, the space between the base of the antennae tends to jut out a bit, making the forehead appear more prominent, almost pointy

The workers vary in size with Camponotous having majors, minors, etc. whilst they do not in Formica sp. However the best way to tell is....

Yep, that pretty much sums it up. That's how I always tell the difference.
